I just finished building a set of Mahogany Audio and Video Cabinets to hold all of the components that make up our "Home Theater" system. The Left Side Rack houses all of our Audio components, including a remotely controlled, whole house receiver that supplies music throughout the house, along with a CD jukebox, Tape player and an old turntable for that nostalgic sound. The right cabinet contains all of the Video components, most of which are actually controlled by the TV using Mitsubishi's Net Command system. The AV Receiver sits on top, and the cabinet contains a Dish 6000 HDTV satellite receiver, a Panasonic RP-56 DVD Player, and a Mitsubishi HD2000U DVHS tape deck for recording over-the-air HDTV programming.
During the remodel, I installed custom controlled lighting, and heavy, black-out curtains to control the ambient light in the room. The left side of the room is floor to ceiling windows, looking out on the lake, so the curtains have to be closed for daytime viewing of the TV, but are left open at night to enjoy the spectacular views of the lights twinkling off of the lake.
