Giant Pacific Octopus Photos

Sunrise County Park (near Gig Harbor, in Puget Sound) is one of my favorite sites for observing and photographing the Giant Pacific Octopus.  On several dives at Sunrise we have been fortunate enough to have Octopus Encounters with large, free-swimming Octopus ( Octopus Dofleini ).  Even more fortunate was having the camera ready and set up for a wide angle shot, which produced this stunning Octopus Photo.   Additional pictures of this octopus and many other giant octopuses can be found in our Octopus Photo Gallery.

Another great dive site for observing the magnificent giant pacific octopus is Flagpole Point in Hood Canal.  On about 80% of our dives there, we have observed octopuses sitting out in the open.  This site has also produced a large number of my best octopus pictures and I was once fortunate enough to observe two Octopuses mating at Flagpole point.  An amazing sight to witness.
